Religious School

Welcome to The Santa Monica Synagogue Religious School. I often like to say that our community is not about the building but about the warm people that make up our amazing community. During this unprecedented time, it has become clear to me that this statement has never been more true. Our community has continued to gather, our students have continued to learn, our teachers have shown us their creativity and compassion as they continue to engage our learners, we have celebrated B’nai Mitzvah and we have even learned how to give virtual hugs! This year, guided by the Jewish value pikuach nefesh (saving lives) we will continue to keep our learning for Kindergarten- 12th grade online through the exploration of Jewish texts, history, Hebrew, and Jewish holidays through the lense of Jewish values. I look forward to zooming with your children!

Mission Statement

The Santa Monica Synagogue's religious school seeks to immerse each child and family in Jewish life and learning through the study of Jewish history, culture, language and ritual. We seek to help our children deepen their spiritual life through prayer and through their observance of Jewish holidays and life events; increase their connection with Jews here and throughout the world; and engage in acts of tzedakah (charitable giving) and tikkun olam (repair of society, the world, and our planet).
