School Trips

8’th Grade Trip to Jewish New York

Each year our post B’nai Mitzvah class travels to experience Jewish New York!

We tour the neighborhoods of both the German Jews (Upper East Side, Temple Emanuel) and the Eastern European Jews (Lower East Side, Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, Educational Alliance, Forward building), see the Garment District, eat at a REAL Jewish deli, and visit the oldest Sephardic synagogue in New York.  In addition, the class learns about the Jewish immigrant experience and how Jews have contributed to American Jewish life.

We also stop at some of New York’s other attractions: Central Park, Times Square, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Ice Skating in Rockefeller Center, Chinatown, Little Italy, and even see a Broadway show!

10’th Grade Trip to D.C.

Each year, our 10th grade class attends L’ Taken, a social justice seminar in Washington, D.C.

L’Taken is an intensive four-days of study focusing on Jewish values and social justice. Every year more than 100 congregations from across the country bring their high school students to participate in this exciting event. This unique Washington opportunity enables students to hear from experts both inside and outside the Jewish community on a variety of key social issues: global HIV/AIDS, women’s rights, heath care, gun control, and environmental and economic issues.

We also visited many of the other attractions that Washington has to offer:  The Smithsonian Museums, National Holocaust Museum, Capitol Hill, Georgetown, and various memorials.

Our students come home feeling that this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
