The Santa Monica Synagogue offers many opportunities through which our adult members build community and friendships. Here are just some of our activities and events:
Adult Education: Our rabbi offers classes and lectures throughout the year on various topics, such as Torah, Beginning Hebrew, Bio-ethics, History, and Jewish Culture.
Wilderness Experience provides a weekend of family camping under the stars, singing around the campfire, schmoozing under shady trees, and sipping cool drinks at the end of the day.
L’chayim Wine Club meets every other month to enjoy cheese and crackers and sample wines from around the world.
Book-Of-The-Every-Other-Month Club meets to discuss a recent work of literature.
Movie Mavens gathers to view and discuss Jewish and Israeli movies.
Chavurot: Many members belong to smaller groups within the congregation. Chavurot get together for dinners, plays, movies, discussions, and other social activities.
Progressive Dinner: Every fall, we enjoy a social evening together as we visit the homes of fellow congregants for appetizers, salads, entrees, and dessert.
Women’s Retreat: We take a break from our hectic schedules for a weekend of schmoozing and study.
Game Night in January is a fun-filled evening of Scrabble, board games, and cards.
B’Yadeinu (In Our Hands) coordinates synagogue outreach activities, such as cooking for Turning Point Shelter, Jewish/Moslem dialogue, and social justice issues.
